Opening act Sleater-Kinney took the stage to a thin and, for the most part, disinterested crowd, delivering a spirited 45-minute set of shrill, melodic and sometimes poppy indie rock that Vedder videotaped from the side of the stage.

“We’re going to pretend we’re actually at the Bluebird (Theater) and you guys are just really spaced out,” guitarist Carrie Brownstein quipped. “That’s where we usually play in this fine city of Denver.”

While unaccustomed to the cavernous setting, the Portland trio nevertheless lit into a host of songs from its acclaimed 2002 album One Beat, ending with an extended jam through “Call the Doctor” that bled into “Dig Me Out,” a song Vedder himself would reprise during Pearl Jam’s set-closing “Porch.”
