the show last night was phenomenal. possibly the best i’ve seen. and i got my wish–they mixed up the set, even performed a (really good) new new song as well as the other new (tamborine) song. also, “one song for you”, “good things”, “heart factory”, “one more hour”, etc.
and, i don’t know if this has been discussed or if she’s done this at other shows, but carrie was using a green gibson sg instead of the brown one. the brown one was there, but she didn’t pick it up at all. and she was also using an orange amp instead of the vox.
toward the beginning carrie was remarking on the pearl jam fans, saying that she’s been playing a game with herself during every show–she’ll pick out a couple coming in and sitting down with a huge beer and cheesy nachos and after every song she’ll say to herself “they’ll look up next song”, but they never do. so she said she had to get used to not just making eye contact with corin and and janet, and that she’s not afraid to make eye contact with us because we’re not usually eating a hot dog while they’re playing.
it was just a really great show, and i was really happy that they let us distribute flyers and zines from their merch table (which was sparse, with just koala tees and buttons). and to my utter delight, right after “combat rock”, carrie mentioned bands against bush and talked a bit about it, and said that we had zines and flyers at their merch table. after the show i had to rush back to restock, and we passed out over 150 flyers. people were really excited, to take information, which is a nice change of pace. we currently have 45 people on our list, but only 3-5 people are coming to meetings, so hopefully some more s-k fans will give us some help organizing.
